My father, Reverend Dumitru Ichim devoted his life to faith, poetry, theology, literature, and the preservation of Romanian culture. He left behind not only published works, but also manuscripts, poems, essays, sermons, lectures, correspondence, photographs, recordings, and other writings that represent a lifetime of struggle, creativity and love.
The first goal of this project is to publish his final, previously unpublished book and then identify and preserve the other unpublished manuscripts and writings he left behind.
In time, we hope to produce a professionally edited, multi-volume Opere Complete / Collected Works of Dumitru Ichim, bringing together his poetry, theological writings, essays, memoirs, sermons, and cultural reflections in one permanent collection.
We also intend to digitize his literary archive, including handwritten manuscripts, notebooks, correspondence, photographs, recordings, rare publications, and other historical materials. These materials will form the foundation of a permanent Dumitru Ichim digital archive, where readers, scholars, members of the Romanian diaspora, and future generations will be able to discover his writings, hear his voice, see original manuscripts and photographs, and learn about his life and work.
Finally, we hope to bring his writing to a much wider audience by translating selected works from Romanian into English. A bilingual collection of his most important poetry and selected theological and literary writings would introduce his voice to readers who otherwise could never experience it.
This fundraiser is therefore about more than publishing a book. It is about preserving a lifetime. Every contribution will help us protect Father Dumitru Ichim's words, thoughts, faith, and literary legacy and ensure that what he created during his lifetime remains accessible long after ours.
Our first step is to publish the final book he left behind. Our larger mission is to make sure his words are never lost.
