#WeLoveTeachers Room 239 "Live in the Special Moments Fund!
Room 239 at Revere High School has a very special class of students, led by a very special teacher. Ms Stephanie Duttry is an Intervention Specialist with big plans for her kids to "Live in the Special Moments". Over the last few months, Ms Duttry had been planning Prom for her 5 special needs Seniors...with the help of families, the hs, and community members, it became a reality. This class of 2017 is very special to her because this was the class she began with when she began working at Revere. In essence, they started high school together and have become family. #WeLoveTeachers
With the help of local businesses, (and some complete strangers), Stephanie, parents and 5 Junior class peers provided the students with a very special night and the kids with their own Special Night at Prom with their classmates this past weekend. Christophers Salon donated makeovers of hair, makeup and nails, Towell Cadallac supplied the Transportation, Countryside Florists donated the corsages and Pink Petals donated the Boutonnieres and American Commodore provided a Tuxedo rental. Members of the community and PTA donated the prom tickets. The kids had a wonderful time and felt more included than ever before.
She wants the kids to have as many experiences as they can before they set out into the world around them.
In helping with this special night, a few of us came to hear about other big ideas that Ms Duttry has had to put some ambitious dreams on hold due to the amount of money that would need to be invested. She would like to be able to better use the basic technology provided to her class, by purchasing and educating herself and others about Adaptive Apps and Jigs that would benefit students of all abilities. She would like to see the students develop a Greenhouse so they can learn about food ans where it comes from, and promote caring for something that is living, as well as improving skills of independance. She would like to invest in a Coffee Cart, to teach the kids job skills that could help them work in Hospitatlity after high school. Ms Duttry would also like to have the ability to teach students the benefits of hard work by having additional funds to reward them for their hard work.
This "LIVE IN THE SPECIAL MOMENTS" Fund is starting now, because GOFUNDME is giving away $100,000 in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week. This fund needs to raise at least $500 before May 18th to be eligible for one of the 100, $1000 awards from GOFUNDME. Please consider donating to this fund, that will go directly to Stephanie Duttry's Class. The funding is necessary to take her vision to the next level.
