Reveal & Restore Our Statues

Greendale Schools and the Greendale Historical Society are launching a fundraising campaign to fund the reveal and possible restoration of the Alonzo Hauser  statue located behind a wall inside the Greendale Middle School building and for maintenance work on the Hauser flagpole on the grounds of Greendale Middle School.

The ‘hidden’ statue was encapsulated during construction of a middle school addition in the early 1970s. The effort to open the wall to reveal and restore the statue is being conducted in conjunction with the 80th Anniversary Celebration of the school district.

Greendale Middle School is the original Greendale school building and opened when the community was established in 1938. Hauser, a Wisconsin native, artist, and art educator, was commissioned by the Works Progress Administration of the Roosevelt Administration’s New Deal to create several sculptures in Greendale.
