Hi, my name is Jazzy! I’m a local queer transgender filmmaker and event organizer in Tucson’s arts community. Over the years, you might've come across some of my work, such as EarthBound USA at The Loft Cinema, the live show Cyberfck, or the various film screenings I've organized like Fresh Kill and the recent Tucson Mesh Movie Night at Splinter Collective.
In January of this year my personal/production vehicle, my beloved 1994 Dodge Caravan minivan, died of old-age. After multiple parts failures, the cost to repair all of it is sadly no longer worth the investment, and I need some financial help to afford another used-car.
A week before my minivan died I’d just spent $1200 at the mechanic making other repairs. Money is especially tight for me right now, with my primary source of income being a job that’s a 10 mile commute from my home. As a full time artist I’m also in the middle of producing multiple events and film projects, and losing my vehicle at this time is particularly stressful.
With my current finances I can only afford rent, bills, and food. Replacing my vehicle would allow me to drive and buy basic necessities, commute to my job, and further my artistic practice by supporting what I love full time: working with my community to create independent films, art, and organizing events which seek to highlight the importance of our current cultural moment.
By successfully raising $5,000 I’d be able to purchase a used car, pay the taxes associated with gofundme, and afford my monthly car payments for a full year.
- $3500 ($200 - $300 monthly payments x 12 months)
- $1500 (30% of $3,600 withheld for taxes)
I’m asking my community to please support me, so I can continue sustaining myself and accomplish my big goals for this year in Tucson. If you can contribute to my fundraiser, or share this post, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Jazzy
