Rev. Tonny Algood Needs Our Support!

Donation protected
Rev. Tonny Algood is an organizer, pastor, and movement elder who has been a part of justice movements for over 50 years. From organizing a multiracial movement of pulpwood haulers and poultry workers in the 1970s to being a leader with the Alabama Poor People's Campaign today, Rev. Tonny has developed hundreds of leaders across the country. Throughout his long organizing history, he has stood up and organized against cruel and unjust systems with courage, humility, and a good bit of humor. Ask anyone who knows Rev. Tonny, and they will tell you how much he supports, encourages, and loves everyone around them, and how willing he is to be able to share from his own experiences and stories.

Right now, Rev. Tonny needs our support to meet his everyday needs. Last year, Rev. Tonny had a series of hospitalizations that disrupted his ability to continue his movement work as well as his work on his forthcoming memoir. Rev. Tonny is currently in need of our support to help him be able to meet his basic needs: paying rent and utilities, insurance, paying back medical debt, accessing food, medication, gas, and ongoing support for his memoir. All proceeds from this GoFundMe will go directly to support Rev. Tonny. Rev. Tonny has given so much to our movements, and it's time for us to continue to show up and support him in his time of need!
