Hi! We are a family that loves animals in all shapes in sizes. Over 6½ years ago we adopted Rev, a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix dog. He has been an amazing addition to our family! A wonderful canine who loves other animals, snuggles our cats, helped with our chickens, keeps our property safe from unwanted creatures and critters, and has given us many hours of amazing memories. Unfortunately on November 2nd, we found him in a traumatic state covered in blood with a large, gaping open wound to the bone which we believe to be from a gunshot. After an emergent after hours vet visit with over 2 hours of surgery, we were able to take him home with a positive and very lucky prognosis. We are extremely grateful for the amazing care of Dr. G. Olson from Southeast Vet Clinic. She was calm in a very distressing situation, professional, knowledgeable and caring.
This after hours visit and post op care that Rev will need, does come at a price and we are hoping to recoup the cost of his initial after hours surgery and the care and visits that he will need in the future to get him back to his playful, joyous self.
Even though we do not know who did this to our dog, and why it happened, we want to make awareness of the dangers of guns and what they can do. Please, if you are a hunter and enjoy this hobby, take care and caution when you decide to shoot an animal, making sure that it is not someone's cherished pet.
