It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Anthony Michael "Monster" Spooner, born July 31st 1977. Came from Warner Robins Georgia to fill our hearts with love. Arriving in Schenectady at 12 with his thick country drawl, and disbelieving nature. He left us far too soon on Sept 13th 2025. Anthony was a cherished Father, Husband, Poppa, Brother, Uncle, and inspiration to those he loved. Anthony’s infectious laughter, unwavering loyalty, and vibrant spirit touched everyone he met.
For those who knew him, "Monster" wasn't just a nickname; it was a testament to his larger-than-life personality. He was a force of nature—always ready with a joke, a helping hand, or an adventure waiting to happen. He was an advent member and trash talker to friends in his fantasy football league. Swearing he was the ruling champ while losing most games.
Tone dedicated his life to meeting and helping strangers. He was always quick with a smile, his kindness and humor left a lasting impact on his community. His energy was contagious, and warming. Monster lived an adventurous and selfish lifestyle. His job took him state to state around the southwest U.S. for weeks at a time, leaving his wife alone to recover from two blood clot surgeries to her legs and cancer treatments.
He was last home on Sept 6th, drove from Las Vegas to work in Utah for a week. Tone then drove straight to New Mexico for another week of working to open a new grocery store for a community in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His last phone call with his wife was on Tuesday; he went to work Wednesday night and never showed back up on Thursday. After not coming home on Friday or answering text messages since Thursday afternoon his wife became concerned and called him repeatedly to no answer.
Saturday morning she started calling again and around 10:30am his phone was answered by the Albuquerque Medical Examiner explaining his passing from Cardiomegaly (enlarged heart). His physical being and possessions including his beloved Cadillac are now stranded there until his recovering wife can rent a car, drive 10 hours, pick up his things from the hotel, then drive 10 hours back with his car, through the heart of Cartel Country.
His sudden departure has left his family and friends heartbroken and unprepared for the financial burden of a funeral service. In this time of immense grief, the last thing we want for his family is to have to worry about funeral costs. We want to give Anthony the memorial he deserves—a meaningful goodbye surrounded by the people he loved and who loved him.
We are asking for donations to help cover the costs associated with Anthony's funeral and memorial services. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help alleviate the financial strain and allow his family to focus on grieving and remembering him fondly.
Funds will go directly toward:
Funeral service and burial costs
Cemetery expenses
Memorial service arrangements
Transportation to Las Vegas then to New York
We are so grateful for every donation, thought, and prayer during this difficult time. Your kindness and support will mean the world to us. If everyone who has had their lives touched by Monster could contribute just $5, we will get him home without more difficulty. Please also consider sharing this fundraiser to help us reach others who knew and loved Anthony.
The first major expense is to have a cremation service done, then transportation back to Las Vegas being around $2000 and approximately 10 days to raise our first goal. The cremation time will conclude between Oct 5th to the 10th. The next donation goal would be another $3000 to cover transportation to New York, and final memorial and burial expenses to lay him to rest with his twin Tiffany. Which will be happening within 5 days of him arriving to his widow in Las Vegas.
