3 year old Sofi was separated from her family after crossing the U.S. border at a legal point of entry and seeking asylum on June 20, 2018.  Sofi’s grandmother (whom she entered with), mother, and other family are in the U.S. and have been released from custody.  Sofi is still being held thousands of miles away at a facility in another state. 

Sofi’s family has been working through the reunification process – gathering documents and submitting paperwork to get her released from custody, but they’ve been given no timeline for reunification and expenses have been mounting.  They need transportation to and from SF for legal and administrative meetings and appointments, and HHS has required Sofi’s mom to find a larger apartment. Listen here to a recording of a call with her mother where Sofi cries, begging to come home: https://youtu.be/q-KY1Xw3bls

LET'S SHOW SOFI’S FAMILY THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEIR BACK AND WON’T REST UNTIL SHE IS RELEASED BACK TO THEIR CARE. 

WHO WE ARE:
This fundraiser is organized by a group of parents and concerned citizens who don't support the current separation policy. We are not related to Sofi, but felt compelled to do our part to help Sofi and her family in this difficult time.

We are inspired by the work of Immigrant Families Together, the NY group that has successfully bonded and reunited 8 families (so far!) through crowdfunding and volunteering. We are working closely with them as we replicate their model of grassroots action in order to help bring parents back to their children across the country as quickly as possible.

Sofi’s campaign is run solely by volunteers. We are now organized as IMMIGRANT FAMILIES TOGETHER - CALIFORNIA.

HOW WILL WE BE HANDLING THE FUNDS
We will withdraw all donated funds and then pass the funds onto Sofi’s family.
100% OF THE FUNDS will go towards Sofi and her family's legal, administrative, transportation, housing requirements, and vital needs as they navigate this process.
