Reunite Raquel with her children!
Donation protected
Please help reunite Raquel with her two boys. Raquel and the boys were separated on June 30 (after the executive order purportedly ending family separation). Raquel was not given a reason for their separation and now ICE claims they received information that she was a member of MS-13. Raquel is NOT a gang member and the government has yet to substantiate the allegations against her. Raquel has been released on bond but her children remain in a shelter and “treatment” facility (the two were in turn separated after initially being separated from their mother). Her youngest son is autistic and does not comprehend their current situation. He suffered a seizure in family detention as a result of medication he was being given — and Raquel has not been able to provide informed consent to his treatment as no medical professional has ever contacted her to explain his symptoms or medical treatment since their arrival in detention over a month ago. The nightmare began for this family when Raquel fled her home country after a brutal assault by a corrupt police officer left her hospitalized for over a week. Instead of finding refuge and safety, she has been subjected to nightmarish treatment by a process that has blatantly disregarded her rights. Your generous donations will help this family with temporary housing, basic necessities and services to heal from the complex trauma they have all suffered. Raquel's most urgent need is for legal support to reunify with her children and litigate her asylum case. Once that immediate need has been met, further funds will go primarily toward support for the children: therapy, housing and home care, and other basic necessities, as well as the ongoing legal process for Raquel and her boys.
