I want to share a deeply personal and emotional story with you all. When I was just 9 years old, my father and I were separated, and we spent 24 long years apart. Then, in 2020, after the untimely passing of my dear brother, something incredible happened. I received a message from a sister I never knew existed, and through the power of social media, I was reunited with my father once again.

You can imagine the mix of emotions I experienced. The joy of discovering newfound family members was then overshadowed by the heartbreaking news that my father had been diagnosed with throat cancer not too long after we connected . It felt like a cruel twist of fate. I really had hoped for more time to reconnect, but life had other plans.

Right now, my father is fighting for his life in an emergency room in the Dominican Republic. The situation is critical, and there is a real possibility that I may not get the chance to see him alive. In this difficult time, I truly desire to be by his side, to hold his hand, and to provide comfort and support to my sister who has been shouldering the burden of caring for our father as his health deteriorates.

My sister, at just 22 years old, is shouldering not only the emotional weight of this situation but also the overwhelming responsibilities of handling paperwork and managing the mounting bills. She has a young daughter, and I can only imagine the toll this is taking on her.

This is where I humbly ask for your support. I am starting a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for a trip to visit my father. It may honestly be too, but I want to be there for a few weeks, to offer my sister the relief and assistance she desperately needs.
