Reunite Lupita & José Antonio!
Donation protected
This is my colleague Lupita, and her husband José Antonio.
Lupita Gonzalez is a US citizen, first-generation college graduate, and Professor of Psychology at SUNY Purchase. Her incredible research uses the tools of Social Neuroscience to investigate how race, gender, and sexuality intersect to impact the well-being of BIPOC.
Her husband, José Antonio, lives in Mexico. He has remained outside of the US for five years, as required (ironically) by the process to obtain permanent residency here. He *finally* had his green card interview this morning, and his petition was denied for unfounded reasons. The process to waive this denial will cost $6000 in legal fees, on top of the $9000 José Antonio and Lupita have already spent.
Donations will directly support José Antonio, and will also indirectly support Lupita, the students she mentors at our Hispanic-Serving Institution, and the groundbreaking research she conducts.
