Reunite Lovebirds: Apart After 67 Years

Donation protected
We are devastated! On top of all the things that are happening in the world today, my grandparents had a significant setback this week and we are asking for help from the closest people in our ohana. Before I get into it and this turns into your typical gofundme, let me tell you more about them first:

“I can’t talk right now, I’m busy chasing your beautiful grandmother around the house” is a frequent response when papa answers the phone in Corvallis OR. Art and Virginia Morse haven’t just been married for 67 years - they have been in love for 67 years. If you’ve had the privilege of knowing the Morse’s you’d know that Papa Morse rubs grandmas feet every morning just so that she can get out of bed. That he holds her hand every chance he gets and that “she is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.” Grandma giggles and teases him about him smothering her while she amazes everyone with her ability to pick up painting and musical instruments on a whim despite having crippling arthritis in her hands and body. In their late 80’s, they are an exemplary pillar of support, strength and kindness for their family, their congregation and their community.

After a tragic fall last week, Grandma Morse broke her hip and was rushed to the emergency room. She suffered from severe pain and constant panic attacks as she was separated from her family due to hospital protocols re: Covid.

Today, Grandma was transferred to a recovery facility that requires her and papa to be separated still. Grandma is alone for the first time in decades and Papa is heartbroken knowing that the love of his life is hurting. We are all at a loss as to how to help them - as Covid dictates our limitations.

Please donate to bring these lovebirds of 67 years back together. Medical care, the rehab facility and building a ramp and/or lift into the house is going to be an unbearable financial burden on the Morse’s. We may not be able to be there in person but together we can help reunite them.

Again, it needs to be said that there’s so much happening today with minorities being oppressed, an economic downturn, a vital pandemic. Perhaps we can look at this as something we can directly effect. Something really close to home. Perhaps together we can support these pillars of love and help bring them back together.
