Hello, my name is Heather. It is with great hesitation that I write this. I feel as though I have exhausted all of my resources, and I have no choice left but to turn to the community. I am in a very difficult situation. I was living in my new apartment with my 15-year-old emotional support dog, Cher. After being there for 6 months, they sold the house. The new owner came and increased my rent by $400 more a month. I was forced to move in June. The apartment I was going to move to was not ready, leaving me homeless with my dog. I have been on the streets for 7 LONG months, 46 long nights in alleyways. After 2 weeks, I decided to do the hardest thing ever: foster my beautiful girl Cher, my beautiful dog! Not only was she my protection at night, she is my peace and my absolute best friend. I knew the most important thing was to get her into a stable environment. Thankfully, I met a wonderful woman who is now my friend, and she agreed to take her in for now, which I am so very thankful for. I have been working so very hard on getting a place. I have been everywhere; I fit in nowhere. It is all temporary. My goal is a HOME, a new place for Cher and me to reunite. We desperately need each other. There is no help out here for the homeless. I am disabled. I have a pituitary tumor in my brain and one on my Achilles tendon that has broken my right foot. I'm awaiting surgery. I'm always willing to work part-time. I volunteer as well. I feed the homeless and help however I can. I don't want to continue forever with all the terrible things that go along with being homeless: nowhere to eat, sleep, lay, rest, etc. This is a desperate plea for help. I am in desperate need of an apartment. This battle has been endless: application fees over and over, waiting on Catholic Charities. It can only be so much; the rent can't exceed $1,119. I looked endlessly; I cannot find one. Also, the RAFT program as well. I could be waiting months. I finally found an apartment for rent. The landlord wants first and last, and he's willing to move me in. I'm trying everything I possibly can. As hard as it is for me to do this, I'm trying everything I possibly can to bring me and my girl Cher back home with her mommy. She is my love, my heart. Not only am I hurting being homeless, I am alone. I'm heartbroken without my puppy, mommy's girl. It will be our first Thanksgiving apart in 15 years! When I tell you this dog is my absolute best friend, I mean she does everything with me. She has terrible anxiety, and I know she is missing me right now as much as I'm missing her. I would love to be able to make her day, pick her up, and bring her HOME. My biggest wish is to be home for Christmas. It's been so brutally cold. I'm thankful that she's warm. I desperately need this apartment. It could reunite Mommy and Cher, and maybe we could be home for Christmas. So brokenhearted. If anyone could help in any way, Cher and I would be so grateful for any help. We need a home so desperately. She's an older girl; she needs her mama, and it's been way too long without her. My heart aches for my puppy. I'm struggling writing this. I apologize. However, I would like to thank you in advance for any donation at all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️ Please, God, help get me and Cher home for the holidays. Please. This was extremely difficult to do. Please, no negativity. I'm struggling enough. I don't want this apartment to be taken. The last one went so fast. Someone suggested a GoFundMe, and here I am, trying whatever I can to reunite myself and my Cher.
