Hi, my name is Natasha.
On 08/08/25, my brother and his partner welcomed their little boy, Reuben. He was born at 32 weeks, weighing 2lb 6oz.
He went through extensive testing, and doctors later discovered that Reuben had a rare condition called Bohring-Opitz syndrome.
This meant his future was uncertain, but my brother and his partner did everything they could to give him the best life possible.
On 12 December 2025, Reuben suffered a cardiac arrest and was transferred from Colchester Hospital to Addenbrookes Hospital where he remained critical.
On 16 December, a meeting was held with the consultants, where they explained that there was nothing more that could be done.
My brother and his partner were faced with the most heartbreaking decision any parent could ever make, to let Reuben go so he would no longer be in pain or suffering.
Reuben gained his angel wings on 16 December 2025 at 17:14.
He fought with everything he had. He was our little champion and meant the world to everyone around him.
His loss has left a massive hole in all our hearts.
This has also left my brother and his partner in a difficult financial situation as they now face the painful task of arranging their baby boy’s funeral. We know it is close to Christmas and that many people are struggling, but if you can find it in your hearts to donate anything at all, we would be truly grateful.
We just want to give our beautiful boy the send-off he deserves.
