My name is Rebeca, and I’m writing to you with my heart in my hands. I’ve survived the unimaginable — but today, I’m asking for help not just for myself, but for the most important person in my life: my daughter.

In 2018, I survived a brutal act of domestic violence and an attempt of murder. I was left with deep trauma and chronic pain, and for two years I couldn’t walk properly. After a major surgery in 2020, I tried to rebuild. Stay healthy. But in November 2021, I faced another terrifying event — an attempted kidnapping.

Then came the worst: my daughter was taken from me.

I spent a lot of energy and money into have her back, proving authorities I am a good mom, being observed attending to meetings, unable to focus on anything else, then not loose her.

In September 2022, my ex had a breakdown and stopped supporting us financially. Not only making me desperate with sudden financial strains but getting sick with the situation who led me to 6 months in clinic therapy. From January 2023 until June 2023 I had to focus on recover my health in a clinic. After come back home, I try all I could to keep my family in order, but again, he trow a glass of alcohol in my eyes while I was sleeping by August 2023, after calling the police, I lost our home and everything inside it — all our belongings, memories, dreams, and stability. I’ve had to start from zero, again. I left with one suitcase, to never come back to this abusive situation, even if I was trying my best, youth office yelled at me, making me feel even worse, for being a victim, almost like it would be my own fault to call police, I felt I had to be on my own, and if I asked for help they would only treat to take away my child from me.

Everyone who knows me knows how devoted I am to her, a full time single mom. But due to the complex legal situation and a lack of financial support, the system has kept us apart.

To make matters worse, my parents — who love her dearly — were not allowed to take guardianship because they are not from Germany.

My daughter is 8 months away from me, even though we both miss each other deeply. We are forced to stay away from each other. And without a good lawyer, I have no path to change this.

In September 2024, she was placed in foster care. Despite complying with everything child protection services asked of me — attending meetings, completing evaluations, proving again and again that I am a loving and nurturing mother — I still can’t even see her.

They are ignoring my calls and not making an appointment to have my legal rights to at least assisted visits.

I currently have no stable home in Berlin, and due to the housing crisis, I cannot sign a contract without paying 3 months of rent upfront plus basic furniture and household essentials for my daughter and me.

Here’s what I urgently need help with:

€5,000 to hire a lawyer to regain custody of my daughter.

€2,000 for visitation rights (even just to see her again).

€20,000 for legal representation to reclaim my previous home.

€7,000 in unpaid hospital bills related to my chronic condition

€3,500 in legal previous fees already incurred.

€12,500 to cover housing: first 3 months of rent, furnishing a home, basic needs, and setting up a safe space to rebuild life with my daughter

Total goal: €50,000

I have 9 police reports and child protection cases on record — not against me, but about everything I've survived. I’ve never given up. But after all this time, no lawyer will take my case for free. And without legal representation, I cannot get my daughter back. I’m emotionally and financially drained, but still standing, still hoping, still trying.
