Alex's Return to Kirov Academy for Ballet!

Hello! My name is Alex and I’m back from my first year at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC. Thank you so much to everyone who donated last year to help me get there – it is difficult to express how much your generosity was appreciated. Thank you!
This past year I worked very hard at both ballet and academics – and finished Grade 11 with all A’s. In March I travelled from Washington to Philadelphia to compete in the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) competition where I placed 1st in my contemporary and 3rd in my classical variation categories. It was also fun to participate in both Kirov’s Winter and Spring showcases which contained lots of talent – from dancers to choreographers and costumers.
I’m so happy to tell you that I was invited back to Kirov for their full time professional dance training program in order to finish in the senior year of their ballet program and graduate from high school. They have once again offered me a 100 % artistic scholarship. The remaining challenge is the fee of $40,000 CAD for the academic program, residence (room and board) and foreign student papers.
I continue to wish to perform on the world stage, interact with broad groups of people – both artists and audience – and bring stories and dance into people’s lives. One day I would like to give back through teaching and hopefully putting a brand new ballet onto the stage. Your help is greatly appreciated!
