To whom it may concern:
My name is Ambrose Butler I’m a disabled veteran and below the knee amputee and currently homeless in Miami Florida.
I am not homeless due to drug abuse mismanagement of finances or some self-imposed problem that I have created or subsequent of some type of mismanagement on my behalf.
I am a resident in Tuscaloosa Alabama and I was a certified recipient under contract and housed in Tuscaloosa Alabama until 28 May and on that date my contract was over and I was forced to move out of a residence that I had occupied for for a year.
I was forced to move even though we were in the middle of the pandemic and I am a handicapped person with other challenges people don’t experience and a veteran I exercised efforts prior to 28 May to try to secure housing to no avail petition different apartment owners private homes and other rental properties 50 and older housing for assisted living facilities anything that would afford me safe and secure housing and after exhausting all efforts still coming to the same conclusion there was nothing for me at the time keep in mind the pandemic was in his early stages most government agencies were closed the VA facility was scaled down to a minimum of its employees most of them being on mission essential only.
After securing my personal effects at my own expense in Tuscaloosa it was necessary for me to move to Miami Florida where I have some relatives and people that have known me for extended periods of time to try to seek out some type of temporary housing needless to say because of certain factors meaning the pandemic the effects of the pandemic and the possibility of contamination I was not able to temporary stay with anybody so it’s been my experience that I have utilized my vehicle for temporary housing going to different places to maintain my hygiene sometimes provided by people unfamiliar with or public places that access bathrooms.
I am in contact with them and the VA and they are trying to help find with providing temporary lodging in the inner room of media recertified in Alabama for section 8 have also contacted Birmingham the eight submitted paperwork to be recertified in Birmingham and continuing my search for secure housing in the state of Alabama now with pending housing opportunities possibly be available I am in dire need of help for my transition and travel back to Birmingham Alabama is been a very difficult situation me and South Florida with the pandemic not only mentally but physically I hope and pray I don’t contract the virus because it seems the only way to go through its course is death need financial assistance ASAP to return to Alabama await temporary housing for section 8 placement and housing this is my situation would appreciate any and all assistance in making these things possible.
