Hi,

my name is Jacek. On the 21st of February 2026 I suffered a Spinal Cord Injury.

I was playing a trial match for the Burleigh Bears and got caught awkwardly in a tackle and landed on my head. My C4-C5 was dislocated in the tackle and I lost all feeling from the shoulders down. I was helicoptered to Princess Alexandra where I was put in an induced coma and had to undergo emergency surgery to fuse my C4-C5.

After 2 weeks and 2 neck surgeries I was pulled out of the coma and had a tracheostomy done. Since then my battle has been to get off the ventilator and out of ICU.

The reason we have started the gofundme is we have been looking at going overseas to maximise my chances for a full recovery. Spinal Cord Injury recovery is so different for every case. There's no silver bullet solution, which is why we want to go to the best SCI rehab clinics in the world. Getting into a clinic that will prioritise my recovery 24/7 is the best chance I have for walking again. These clinics are between $750,000 and $1,500,000 for 6 months plus. We also have flights and whatever other care we will need to fly over.
