I’d like to introduce you to my wife’s father Jerry Carlton Sr. Eighty years strong and a caring loving man who loves Christ. Jerry is a Veteran and was an active contractor who suffered a horrible fall just before Christmas 2020. Jerry suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and had an emergency craniotomy to deal with a subdural hemorrhage and subdural hematoma, multiple rib fractures and acute respiratory failure. By the grace of God Almighty, Jerry came through his surgery and out of his coma. However, his cognitive issues persist and any chance of getting back the Jerry we knew are unknown at this point.

Jerry had an incredible neurosurgeon with over 30 years of experience who is amazed at how Jerry’s brain has healed at his age. He has given us an option to try to help alleviate the fluid on Jerrys frontal lobe which controls reasoning, personality and short term memory-these are life skills needed to live independently again. This surgery does come with risk and has no assurance of success. However, after long prayer, multiple consults with his surgeon and with Jerry, we feel the surgery is worth trying. Medicare only pays for 80% of the cost of the surgery. Jerry’s current cost of assisted living and therapy leaves him with a deficit in his monthly finances so we are looking for help to make up the shortfall.

We are seeking to raise financial support for Jerry in order to cover medical costs that could improve and repair his injury and bring Jerry back to a life of normalcy. Our goal is to raise $20,000 so that we can help him in this endeavor and provide him the necessary therapy to continue gaining strength and cognitive functions.

We ask two things of our friends. First to lend your prayers for Jerry’s recovery. To ask God to take the anxiety away (Philippians 4:6-7) and ask Him to heal Jerry’s brain fully (Jeremiah 33:6).
