Hi, my name is Marcia,  I've set up this fundraiser for my long-time friend Herminio Correia.

After dealing with the tragic loss of his son in 2018, being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in Feb 2020, and then in July 2020 losing his father, he is now facing a horrific court battle that no one should ever have to deal with.

Herminio's father Idalino was a very hard working, energetic, and ambitious gentleman who touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. 

He was involved in every aspect of his son's life, especially within the Portuguese and soccer community as Herminio was very involved in playing.

In 2016 Idalino moved to Alberta to live with a family member. Herminio at the time was working a full time job and wasn't able to be his fathers full time care giver, and didn't want his father to be alone.

Everything seemed fine for the first 2 years or so until his health started to deteriorate.  Idalino needed surgery as his diabetes had affected his leg, and an amputation had to be done.

Unfortunately after a few months he needed another surgery to remove more above the knee which took even more of a toll on Idalino and Herminio.

Herminio was very active in keeping in contact with his father and with his family members while his dad was living with them during this time.

Herminio called to speak to his dad on numerous occasions during these times, and he would always be told that his dad was always sleeping or wasn't feeling well enough to talk to him.  He was also told that they gave his dads cell phone to another family member so Herminio couldn't call his dad directly anymore.

It wasn't long after Idalino’s first surgery that his health started to get worse as Idalino was very depressed and weak and then soon after he passed away.

After the loss of his father, things that should have been easily taken care of were not as the family member had changed paperwork and bank information without advising Herminio, Idalino’s only heir. 

As you can imagine, that made it difficult for Herminio to take care of his father’s last wishes, and to finalize his father’s death and bring him home.

We all lose loved ones, but the past 3 years have really taken a toll on Herminio not only emotionally and mentally, but also physically.

The family member who Idalino was living with and trusted has yet to send Herminio his father’s ashes, and now Herminio is having to fight them in court to get his father back!

He has also been denied his father’s estate saying that his father left nothing to Herminio,  and everything to them which is not what his father would have ever wanted.

Lawyers’ fees and court costs are piling up very quickly!  

Due to his disability, Herminio unfortunately has had to quit his job.  He has now come to the end of his life's savings, and is now having a hard time with his own personal bills and rent.

In order to continue with this horrible and unbelievable legal fight to get what his father would have wanted, and what is rightfully his, I ask that you help in this cause. 

Let's bring Idalino home! Back where he belongs with his family.

All Herminio wants to do is be able to give his father a proper burial, and put him in his proper resting place beside his beloved wife Adriana.

Its been almost a year since his fathers passing and still nothing from this family member, and honestly this has gone on way too long and must come to an end for Herminio, he's been through enough!  

The sooner we can get this over with and into court and get Idalinio's ashes home, the better

The intention of this fundraiser is to cover the cost for Idalino’s funeral services, legal fees and to pay back the people who have graciously leant him money to try and keep this going.

I'm reaching out to you all for help in continuing this unthinkable battle that he is currently in.

Idalinio is remembered by everyone he knew as a cheerful and helpful person who was family to us all.
