Greetings! My name is Ret, I use he/him pronouns and I am a trans man from Colorado. I am a full-time music student working multiple jobs, and I have a sweet doggo named Nigel. I worked very hard last winter to get myself on testosterone and I did it!! This I did, however, as I had originally planned to save for top surgery throughout the course of my bachelor’s degree and to have it as a graduation gift. Playing cello while binding, however, is taking a toll on my ability to learn and on my body’s ability to keep up. In addition, starting testosterone brought me to learn that my family medical history, with testosterone’s changes and challenges, may mean that if top surgery doesn’t happen in the winter, it may not happen at all. I recognize that my costs are much lower than those of others, but I need help to reach my very personal and time-sensitive goal.
