Retracing my Steps: From Good Family to Street Homeless

Hi, my name is Zak and when I was 20 years old I went missing. I am raising funds to tell my story.

When I was 20 I was a regular drug user, addicted to the rush of getting high. This culminated in a severe case of drug induced psychosis. During this time, in a fit of paranoia I ran away to Europe from the UK with nothing to my name. I travelled from Amsterdam, to Belgium, to Luxemburg and finally Paris mostly by foot, sleeping rough and not eating for days at a time. There are so many stories I could tell from this time of my life, and would love the opportunity to do so.

I am teaming up with film making group "Amenno" (https://www.instagram.com/amennofilms/) to hopefully retrace my steps through my journey around Europe, with interviews from family and friends, in a hope to transmute this traumatic experience to something positive. My main goal is to confront my trauma by visiting all the places I had near death experiences and all the archways I slept under. In the process I would love to create something me and my loved ones could look back on in the form of a documentary about my experience retracing my steps through Europe
