Retiring on disability & returning home

Hello,

Ive been coming to Atlanta since the 80’s and have lived here for the past 23 yrs. Atlanta became my chosen home as my addiction took over. I made some very bad decisions and did things I’m not proud of, but I survived. Sadly, many of the last 15 years were spent trying to recover from that addiction. Some were spent away at “The Spa” and rest were spent trying to pull myself back together until the State of GA releases me from the bonds keeping me here come October. Of course, the years have ticked by with little to no planning on retirement or health. All of a sudden I’m falling apart and turning 60 yrs old in November and my return back to Richmond to what is left of my family will definitely be bittersweet as I lost my older sister Kathy and my younger brother Lacy in the past two years. I’ve never been very healthy along with that and years of drugs and everything else has taken it’s toll on this poor old body. The severe Scoliosis in my back,Neuropathy in my hands and feet along with numerous health issues are requiring me to take disability. This I haven’t been able to do while in Atlanta because I had to pay bills and rent. Luckily I have family that will allow me to live with them while I go thru that process. My problem is getting there and trying to live day to day without expecting help from family. Due to the pandemic, I got behind on keeping my car up. There are things I need to do to it before I can make that trip home. I also need help in getting tires , brakes, and getting the insurance updated, transferred and paid as far as possible until I know funds will be coming in from disability. 

A benefit was being planned but due to the uptick in Covid and now Monkey Pox cases my friends have suggested GoFundMe as the best way to get in funds instead of a big party that could infect or become a super spreader of these things none us want. So out of an abundance of caution I’ve opted for this. I know, none of this is anyones fault but my own and I realize I’m in trouble.  My self made family here in Atlanta have always supported me and I truly appreciate all the love you have given me over these years.

 I’m planning to find one night before I leave Atlanta in October to go out and have one last dance night for those of you who would like to join me. I will keep you posted on that date asap.
