Retired Vet's wife (Stroke Expenses)
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Terry. My wife Cathy had a major stroke March 13th 2024. She is currently at UT Knoxville. Paralyzed on the right side and struggling to speak. We have been a part of Tennessee since 2019. But are from Michigan originally. I have been assigned in 11 different countries (from Vietnam to the middle east and others) during 23 years in the military and then I taught middle school in Pinckney Michigan for 17 years. My wife, my bride was as much a part of the military and education system as I was.
Now we are struggling in the midst of Cathy's stroke. Our forever home is a bi-level (still with mortgage which we do not want to lose by incurring more debt at this point in our lives) with many steps (two-landings). All the living space is upstairs and basement is downstairs. We have never asked for financial help from the community at large before. In just a few days, we will need access to our living level for her wheel chair and other support equipment. The stair situation is not capable for a ramp (14 steps).
We are asking the community at large, across the world to donate any amount. The goal will be to install a lift from the basement to the hallway upstairs which will be a little over $20,000. Any left over funds will be used to adapt the bathroom for handicap needs. This sickness was a complete surprise, and we are still praying for complete restoration and healing.
If you can help. Whether prayers or funds.
