Retired Preschool Teacher Needs Medical Bill Help

Hi, my name is Rianna and I am asking you to help my mom, Deena. A much loved, retired preschool teacher, mother of 2 and grandmother of 2 little girls, she has battled ups and downs with her health for many years. After living for years in pain from a knee injury, she had a much needed knee replacement surgery in March 2024. Her recovery was going well and she was receiving physical therapy and follow up care.

An unexpected blow happened earlier this week when Deena fell in her home and was unable to get up. She was trapped in the hall bathroom unable to reach help, food or water for nearly 3 days. Family found her after doing a wellness check when there was concern after she didn't respond to phone calls or texts.

Deena was extremely sleep deprived and confused. She was so cold her teeth were chattering and her whole body shaking uncontrollably. Her feet were purple from being unable to move. We are devastated to think of all she went through during those 3 days.

She is now in the hospital receiving the care she needs, but we are unable to afford the support she needs after she is discharged from the hospital. There is concern about her constant pain levels and kidney health from the muscular atrophy that occurred while she was trapped on the floor.

Her fall occurred just as she was getting ready to take her pup on a drive. Her 2 year old German Shepherd/Bernese Mountain Dog Emmie, became trapped in the car in the garage while Deena was incapacitated for those 3 days. Emmie is relatively unscathed, but was found hungry, dehydrated and terrified. She received follow up care to ensure she was healthy, but paying for her care will be difficult. Inevitably, Deena's car was wrecked on the inside, so we will have to pursue a new mode of transportation for her.

Any amount that you can donate will go towards covering her hospital bills, care in an assisted rehabilitation facility, veterinary/ boarding bills for Emmie and towards fixing or replacing her car.
