Retired Police Dog Surgery

This is Nacho.

Nacho served as a Police Dog in Western Australia for six years before retiring this January. During this time he served as a General Purpose Police Dog, tracking and apprehending numerous violent and elusive criminals all over the state. I could never have asked for a more loyal and dependable partner.

As his handler I took Nacho on as our family pet upon his retirement and we've been doing our best to let him transition to civilian life and enjoy his, now abundant, free time. Unfortunately Nacho got too much into the swing of retirement and managed to slip out and into his sister's socks, swallowing a pair that were left unattended. This resulted in his requiring emergency surgery to remove the socks from his stomach and intestine.

Regrettably this has taken a toll on on my family's finances as post-retirement medical cost are not covered by our department. Beyond the diagnostic scans, emergency surgery and post-operative recovery costs, which amounted to just over $5,000 AUD, there are some ongoing post-surgery care costs. Anything you can spare to help us look after Nacho would be very much appreciated.
