NYTPD Officer Albert Lopez - Forgotten but Fighting on
Donation protected
My name is Albert Lopez. I served with the NYPD Transit Police beginning in 1981, dedicating decades of my life to protecting New York City and its people. I was proud to wear the uniform and to stand watch underground, ensuring riders made it home safe every day.
Like many first responders, I carry invisible wounds. I suffer from PTSD—a result of years exposed to trauma, violence, and the constant stress of the job. But on top of that, I’m also living through something no officer should endure: I lost my pension, even after being cleared of false allegations.
I was accused of misconduct late in my career—allegations that were later proven unfounded. But by then, the damage was done. The system didn't care that I was cleared. They took my pension, the one I worked for my entire life. Decades of service—gone, with nothing to fall back on.
Now I’m struggling to survive—emotionally, financially, and mentally. The world I once protected seems to have turned its back. But I still believe in the goodness of people, and I’m reaching out in hope—not for a handout, but a lifeline.
Your support will help cover basic needs, therapy, and maybe even a chance to rebuild a sense of dignity. Whether it’s a donation, a share, or just a kind word—anything helps.
I stood for others when they needed it. Now I’m just asking for someone to stand with me.
With gratitude,
Albert Lopez
