Hi my name is Alexcia Hayes and i want to tell you why i started this go fund me for my stepdad Tyrone Pender. My stepdad's kidneys stopped working when he was 5 years old. He's had two kidney transplants and is currently waiting on his third. My stepdad has been in my life for 8 years. He married my mom in 2014 and became a stepdad to 5 girls (including myself) A year later my mom and stepdad had a boy, and a year after that my step dad lost his kidney of 14 years (his mom had given to him) so he was back on dialysis for the third time, so my mom went back to work to support our family. She works long days and she isn't home very much. On her days off she would take my stepdad to his dialysis treatments and spend time with us. she works 6 days a week and has very little time with us.by her working all the time and taking care of me, my 5 siblings, and my stepdad it is taking a toll on her health as well. When my stepdad is sick she misses work to take care of him and us when we are sick as well, with that being said she usually ends up getting sick herself which causes her to miss work and is on the verge of losing her job because of it. I've watched both my mom and stepdad struggle through all of these life changes, I saw Tyrone on his good and bad days, and horrible days, But he was always there for us when we needed him. Even on tired days when he could barely stand up from long dialysis treatments he still managed time for us. Five years later he's still on dialysis, still waiting for a kidney. For 3 or 5 years he's taken us to school (on his off dialysis days) every morning. The past two years he's been on home dialysis. The home dialysis is easier on his body but more dangerous because he could catch an infection and be in the hospital really sick. I don't have many ways to help money wise the only way I help is by helping clean, help take care of my siblings so I thought that maybe if I started this go fund me it could possibly take some pressure off my mom and Tyrone as they on a daily stress over how to pay bills and get everything they need to provide for us.
