Fundraising for Resus & SCBU department Conquest Hospital

Donation protected
Hello, I’m Charleigh, & myself and my sister Hannah are running the Hastings half marathon in march 25, to raise money for the Resus department & SCBU at the conquest hospital.

We are raising money for these two incredible departments as they both worked tirelessly to save my little boy Otis’ life at only 10 days old.

Otis stopped breathing at home after a bath one evening due to contracting bronchulitus & falling incredibly poorly with a secondary infection in his airways. He was taken to the hospital where he spent 4 hours in resus, before being transferred to the ward where he was cared for day and night by the wonderful team of nurses. Otis spent his stay in hospital on a ventilator which breathed for him, helping him preserve as much energy as possible to fight his illness. Along side the bronchulitus Otis also had to much carbon dioxide within his blood count which was also causing him to be very unwell.

We were on stand by to be transferred to the Evelina in London, but our little solider turned a corner and we saw out the rest of our stay in Hastings. We were lucky enough to have a room with a bed in to stay with Otis through the day/night whilst he was in hospital, and given all the basic necessities.

The hospital relies souly on donations to help parents with things they may need whilst they stay with their babies on the ward, from nappies, razors, food 24/7 in the family kitchen, shower toiletries, wipes, creams, tooth brushes etc, all given through the kindness of others. Twice a year we donate basic necessities and food to the hospital as we will forever be in their debt for saving Otis, and having increased funds to do so would go such a long way.

These photos bring such bitter sweet memories as they are a reminder of how unwell our little boy was, and what an awful time in our lives we experienced but yet also reminds us how strong, resilient, happy and healthy he is now. He’s absolutely thriving, and has been fully discharged from their care.

We would be so grateful if you could spare what you can to help support such a wonderful cause and provide such under funded departments with the things they need to help parents like us.

Thankyou so much,

Charleigh, Hannah & Baby Otis. X
