Dear family, friends, and friends of friends,
As many of you may know, my brother Andrew has been battling the courts in Argentina for the past 6 years in an effort to get legal permission for his 4 children to travel and live in the United States after the mother was removed from the home for domestic violence and child abuse. She is currently being prosecuted for sexual abuse of the eldest child and attempted murder of the youngest. She was already found guilty of child abuse of her twin daughters. Their lives have been shattered and he is desperate to give them better lives here in the best country in the world.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel for this tragic story. We believe that after 6 long, agonizing years, the court is going to give legal permission for the children to travel and live in the United States. The challenge is that after being unemployed for the past 6 years, taking care of the children and battling the court system, Andrew is now penniless. He has spent the last two years borrowing money from family and friends to put food on the table, and recently they auctioned his home.
This is where I'm asking for help. With your help, we can get the family back to the United States and provide this much needed assistance to start their lives over. The cost of the airfare alone is $10,000 (this is an immediate need as they have to leave the country quickly after they are allowed to go), they will also need money for housing, food, clothing and continued psychiatric help for the children. We are blessed to have family and friends here to surround them and assist in their efforts to relocate and adjust but it takes so much more.
I am the last person that would ask for money from family and friends but this situation is larger than our immediate family can handle on our own. I ask that you consider giving whatever you can to get my nieces, nephews and brother state-side and to provide them a new start. No amount is too little.
