Mobile Woodshop for Tim Bell

Donation protected
We are raising $24k to buy a trailer and custom build it - along with his cargo van - into a mobile woodshop/van life set-up so Tim can provide for his family and do God’s work after his wife Emily completes her transplant treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville FL.    Emily's cystic fibrosis story from hospice to transplant surgery to today is a mini-miracle unto itself (see below).    Tim took the last year off work to care for his wife Emily.   Without our help, returning to work for Tim means not being able to return home to his wife and daughter due to strict quarantine protocols related to the realities of recovery after Emily's double lung/kidney transplant surgery.

Why a mobile woodshop trailer & van-life makes sense?  It’s time for Tim to get back to work but he can’t work shoulder-to-shoulder in his Port Charlotte, FL woodshop due to onerous quarantine protocols (above and beyond COVID).  And he might need to find work that is closer to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL (5hrs away) for the foreseeable future.  So his close friend Weston offered to build him a mobile workshop  (a $15,000 value  - labor) while they finish Emily’s treatments at the Mayo Clinic.  But the cost of the mobile woodshop itself (trailer, trailer buildout, van buildout, misc.) is about $24,000 – our Fundraising Goal:
$8,000 for an empty trailer to the 16x8.5’ specification
$6,000 for the custom buildout of the trailer (lumber/electrical/guts/tools/misc. to build it into a workshop - see pics)
$10,000 for the custom buildout of the van (similar to above plus AC, Solar, Battery, Gray Water System, Toilet, Kitchen, Bed, etc.)
     ---
$24,000 Fundraising Goal (anything above $20k will cover other related/family expenses)
$15,000 (Labor) – donated by Weston @ Coventry Woodworking  (Tim is planning to do some of this work with Weston)
     ---
$39,000 Total Value (Labor, Materials, and Misc.)

Yes - We increased the fundraising goal from $14k to $24+k.  Tim's truck wasn't strong enough tow the new trailer so he decided to buy a NV3500 cargo van that could tow it and that would allow him to be more easily stay fully quarantined (kitchen/bathroom/shower/sleep).

The sooner we get Tim back on his feet, the sooner he can find his way back to the church and his true calling – serving God by serving others and by being alive and bold with the Holy Spirit like the Gospel asks us to do. Ironic is that Saint Timothy (Tim’s namesake) was tapped by the Apostle Paul to carry on his missionary work.   It’s also worth noting is that like Jesus, Tim is a carpenter… just saying ;)

About Tim and Emily Bell - their story
Tim is a devout Christian father and volunteered his time at the church leading (music) worship and children’s ministries for years.   He is the owner of a small business called Mitered Solutions  (Port Charlotte, FL) that does finish carpentry mainly installing kitchens and building custom furniture (built-ins, etc.).  Tim’s wife Emily got very sick about a year ago in May 2020 but not from COVID like the rest of us feared during the pandemic.  Emily’s lungs were failing from cystic fibrosis and she needed a lung transplant .   Timing was awful for this and Emily’s health degraded so quickly that she missed her window to get on the transplant list – landing her on hospice by July 2020.  Tim stopped working and slept in their car in the parking lot outside the hospital for a week before the medical director agreed to let him be there for Emily throughout this ordeal.   The family prayed together, made their piece with God, and said their goodbyes. Then a miracle happened – it wasn’t Emily’s time.  She fought her way off hospice and onto the transplant list into the #1 spot and got lifesaving (double lung and kidney) transplant surgery on September 3rd, 2020. They hope to finish treatments and try and return to normal by June 2021.
