Continuing the Peace: Sustaining Mama Lexa & Austin

Hello,
My name is Alexa some of you know me as Lexa, Lex, or that girl who loves Mariah Carey, cats, and butterflies. Some of you have known me all my life, and others have met me along the way.

I’m now a mother to a beautiful 18-month-old baby boy who is the light of my life, my heart in human form. Recently, I made the difficult decision to leave my child’s father for the betterment of not only myself, but for my son. I tried all that I could, and my decision to leave was not made lightly.

My pregnancy and postpartum journey have not been easy. While pregnant, I continued school and only took one week off after giving birth because I didn’t want to fall behind. I’m currently in my senior year at Roosevelt University, earning my degree in Education and Youth Studies with a focus in Early Childhood and a minor in Bilingual Education. I work full-time, attend school full-time, and have my son full-time but I don’t have the help and support that I need.

Right now, Austin and I are living in temporary housing that isn’t stable or warm enough for the winter. It’s been difficult with a toddler, and I’m doing everything I can to move us into a safe, stable home before the weather gets colder. I’m doing my best to hold things together, but the truth is, we need a little help.

The funds raised will go directly toward creating stability for Austin and me. This includes moving costs, first month’s rent and deposit, legal fees, childcare expenses, and transportation so that I can continue working and attending school without interruption. Any additional support will go toward building a small emergency fund and making our new space feel like a real home for my son safe, warm, and filled with love.

Every bit of help, whether through a donation or simply sharing our story, means the world to me. It’s not easy for me to ask for help, but I promised God that I would do everything I can to be a good mother to my son. I’m trying my hardest to rebuild what was broken. I just want my son to experience the peaceful, stable, and loving environment that he deserves and if that means starting over, I will do everything in my power to give that to my baby.

And as Mariah Carey says, “I’m gonna do the best I can with what I’ve got.”
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for believing in us, and for helping me give my baby the start he deserves. From the bottom of my heart , thank you.
