Hello everyone,
If you're reading this, chances are you know me. My name is Norman Walsh, and I'm reaching out to you for support during a challenging chapter in my life. For those who have knew me 30 years ago, you are likely aware that I survived a devastating car accident that should have claimed my life. I consider myself incredibly fortunate. Thanks to the expertise of skilled surgeons in Boston, I underwent extensive facial reconstructive surgery, which included the insertion of titanium implants to rebuild my jaw, face, and skull. These remarkable procedures, along with the use of one of my ribs to reconstruct my nose, allowed me to reclaim a semblance of normalcy and live a fulfilling life.
However, as time has passed, the effects of the accident have resurfaced. The titanium screws that once held my jaw together have begun to fail. About two years ago, I noticed the screw heads protruding through the roof of my mouth, some eventually fell completely out. Despite the initial success of the surgeries, I now find myself in need of further intervention to address the complications that have arisen. Essentially, the hardware installed 30 years ago has now failed.
In 2020, I made the difficult decision to invest in my dental health and underwent a procedure that cost nearly $20,000, This procedure was primarily funded it with credit cards. I had a full dental extraction and implants installed. Regrettably, the work done by my previous dentist is now also failing (implants are separating from my jaw). This leaves me in need of additional, more extensive treatment to address the underlying issues.
Adding to the complexity of my situation, I suffered a stroke last July, further compounding my medical challenges. While the bills from that event have been overwhelming, I want to make it clear that I am not seeking assistance for those expenses. Instead, I am solely asking for help with the oral surgery and associated costs necessary to address my current condition and improve my quality of life.
Initially, the estimated cost for the necessary surgeries were quoted at $46,000 by the doctor who performed my procedures two years ago. However, I now have found an amazing doctor willing to do it for less,$40,000. This is great news because this doctor is better, and I didn’t really want to go back to the same doctor who installed the currently failing hardware. This new quote includes the full oral surgery needed to restore my health and smile. The surgery will involve the removal of old hardware, multiple bone grafts, a sinus lift, and the insertion of new titanium hardware to hold my jaw together.
This is where I humbly turn to the kindness and generosity of friends, family, and compassionate individuals like you. Your support, no matter how big or small, will make a profound difference in my life. Not only will your contributions help cover the cost of the surgery, but they will also enable me to focus on my stroke recovery without added stress.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering my plea and for any support you can offer. Together, we can make a real difference in my life.
-Warm regards,
Norman Walsh
