Restoring my home & possessions
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Greg. Nearly 10 months ago, my condo building, along with the adjacent building, was involved in a fire. About 2 weeks ago, the third set of contractors finally started repairs. There were delays due to disputes about who would pay for city required upgrades (home owners or the homeowners' association insurance). A resident was squatting on her property, so the city would not release permits to build. She finally moved out. Previous contractors & the property manager were fired along the way. According to the the association's president, repairs should be done in about 3 months. The reason for my fundraiser is that I was woefully under-insured for accommodations. I was ignorant of this coverage and spent my first night with the Red Cross. And that coverage eventually ran out. I had to use insurance funds for replacing my belongings for rent. I ran out of those funds, so soon, unless I find assistance, I'll be homeless. Most assistance programs have disqualified me because I own property. It's kind of a "Catch 22". I have property which I cannot occupy. But I can't get assistance, because I own property. My fundraiser is threefold:
1) funds for present accomodations
2) funds to replace money spent on rent that was to go to replace my belongings
3) funds to cover repairs that fall under my responsibility in case my insurance coverage doesn't cover these repairs adequately.
If you decide to help me out, I thank you and hope you are blessed by God. If you decide not to help, thanks for reading my story and I hope God blessed you, too. And, in all things, may God have the praise. Thank you.
