Redding Church of Religious Science does business as Center for Spiritual Living, Redding.

On the evening of Sunday, December 21, 2025, Center for Spiritual Living, Redding (CSLR), located at 1905 Hartnell Avenue in Redding, California, was flooded due to long-lasting torrential rain that also caused complete flooding of the adjacent apartment complex, other flooding along Hartnell Avenue, and overflow of Churn Creek next to CSLR. The extensive interior flood was a category 3, which is toxic water and required removal of approximately 5,200 square feet of carpet and baseboards in the sanctuary, administrative office area, and bookstore. In addition, a significant number of bookcases and cabinets on the floor were damaged which require replacement. Also, the floors and walls require special treatment by a remediation company to avoid mold and other contaminants due to the toxic flood water. CSLR also received significant damage to fencing and landscape area grounds which require repair. The overall estimated cost of repair, mitigation, and replacement is approximately $84,000.

CSLR is requiring a GoFundMe target of $60,000 since the flood insurance cap with its insurance company is limited and not high enough to cover the extent of damage.

The Center sits on 3.1 beautifully landscaped acres along Churn Creek in Redding, California. The Center’s campus consists of a main building which includes a 400-seat sanctuary built in 1990, and in 1999 expanded by adding a social hall, kitchen, bookstore, conference room, and additional administrative offices. In addition to the main building, a 4-room cottage built in 1994 is used for children’s church, classes, meetings, and wedding preparations. The campus also has a separate meditation pavilion built in 1996 which holds about 35 people, which is used for spiritual practice, classes, meetings, and energy classes.

The outside area has a large lawn, meditation walking trail, and many sitting areas under the oak trees. Part of the lawn area includes a wedding platform under the oaks that has the necessary electrical outlets for sound and lights.

A beautifully designed labyrinth is enjoyed by the congregation and many guests throughout the year.
