Restore Violeta's Smile and Literary Voice

Donation protected
Award-winning author and literary translator Violeta Orozco was unfortunately in a bike accident earlier this year. Sadly, Violeta lost her front teeth in the accident. Having recently completed her doctorate at the University of Cincinnati, Violeta is in a precarious financial situation. In addition to cosmetic surgery to replace her teeth and pay off additional expenses from the accident, Violeta is also acting as a caretaker for her father, who is suffering from dementia.

Violeta has returned to her hometown of Mexico City and is currently living there. She is continuing her work as a poet, editor, and more. Unfortunately, she has already had to withdraw from a number of potentially life-changing opportunities in the USA; including leaving her teaching assitant in composition job at Memphis University's MFA program and setting aside work on her novel so she can take care of her father.

Please support Violeta to help her and her family in her time of need. Your donation will help this acclaimed performance poet return to what she does best: hosting live literary readings and reciting her poetry to shock, entertain, and move audiences to feel and think critically about the social issues her work addresses.

We hope she can return to the United States soon, where she has many fans, friends, and colleagues.
