Hello, my name Christopher McMillan and I truly appreciate you taking the time to read my story. I have been working in Altadena CA at The Zorthian Ranch as ranch hand, farmer and machine operator for the past 7 years. Unfortunately, Eaton Fire burned right through us and nearly everything on the near 50 acre ranch is decimated.
I am a bit late getting this request for help as I stayed with a few other ranchers to fight the fire... Our efforts were futile, when it arrived it was a raging firestorm with 100 mph winds driving it. As I made my escape the fire had already surrounded us and was consuming nearly all of the neighborhood below us. I returned the next day to assess the damage only to find fires still burning and nearly all of our infrastructure and work had been destroyed. A few of us stayed for the over a week. To secure, cleanup and manage several immediate needs.
My losses were minimal compared to so many who lost nearly everything. I have lost many means to rebuild and generate income. All of my garden, mechanic garden and landscape tools and equipment are gone or damaged beyond repair. Seed, fertilizer and other garden supplies needed to bring the gardens back to life are gone as well as equipment used to make medicines, cook with and the laptop we used to manage and record our work and progress. If you can your donation will help tremendously to get us going again and to help me sustain and aquire my income.
