RESTORE the Polyptych of The Resurrection-Niccolò di Segna
Donation protected
HELP IS NEEDED TO RESTORE the Polyptych of The Resurrection!
This important artwork was painted by Niccolò di Segna in the mid-1300s, and its central panel - the scene of Christ's Resurrection - became the model a century later for a key work of the Italian Renaissance, Piero della Francesca's fresco in the museum of Sansepolcro.
The project involves the study and conservation of an altarpiece from the Cathedral in Sansepolcro (near Arezzo, in Tuscany). We need to remove the threat of wood-boring insects and carefully clean the painting to recover its original beauty, glow and grandeur.
The Arezzo-based restoration team also brought back to life Pietro Lorenzetti's pivotal work recently exhibited in Siena. The rise of painting. 1300-1350 first at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and now at the National Gallery in London.
Support the art of devotion and enhance our appreciation of history in a lasting way.
Be a part of this historic journey by contributing to its conservation!
The project will take about 4 or 5 years and the expected cost is
€ 240,000. We've started with € 100,000.
We still need to raise € 140,000.
