My father, Mike Varner, suddenly passed away in October 2025. Mike was a caring and kind man who was always willing to help those around him. He was incredibly proud to own Sparks Cycle Supply in Tucson, Arizona from 1984 to 2015. Sparks was not just a shop, but a hangout spot for enthusiasts and loyal customers. The shop remained a cornerstone of the Tucson motorcycle community for 30 years.

In 2019, the empty Sparks building was torn down for the Grant Rd. construction project. Before being demolished, the iconic Sparks Cycle Supply sign was saved by the Ignite Sign Art Museum here in Tucson; the sign is now part of their collection. Unfortunately, the sign’s vibrant paint faded and the sign itself has suffered significant damage from weather. The sign is almost unrecognizable now and is in need of proper restoration.

To honor Mike’s memory, we are raising $2000 for supplies so that this piece of Tucson history can be carefully restored and preserved for years to come. With your generous support, the sign will be restored to its original look, immortalizing Sparks and Mike Varner’s legacy in the Tucson community.

Thank you for any support you can give. Every donation helps us tremendously in meeting our goal and is very appreciated!
