A Community Foundation in rural Uganda, African, urgently needs three Mobile Eye Kits for outreach campaign to remote counties. Please support our Fundraiser to buy 3 Ophmo - Mobile Eye Clinic-; contained in a light portable suit Case- that goes where Eye Hospitals cannot and together we make instant social impact.
Dear Friends,
Max Liedholz and Angela Watsam, are chipping to support and continue some of the health care projects left by USAID. Join us to fundraise to bring sight-saving mobile eye care to some of the remote counties and remote communities in Sironko, eastern Uganda.
We are fundraising in support of the Bamaena Community Foundation, ( https://bamaenafoundation.org/programmes.html ) which is planning an emergency eye care outreach compaign to some remote villages in August-Septmeber 2025. Your and donations are tax deductible. 100% of the proceeds go to the community foundation which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Any size donation will make an impact!
THE CRISIS: TREATABLE BLINDNESS IS STEALING FUTURES
In Sironko District, Uganda, thousands of people in 54 remote villages are quietly losing their vision.
Why? Because they’ve never had access to a simple eye exam. There are no eye clinics. No affordable care. No way to reach hospitals 7 hours away.
People are going blind from cataracts, glaucoma, and trachoma—all treatable conditions.
In the beautiful but underserved hills of Sironko District, thousands of people—grandparents, farmers, mothers, and schoolchildren—are quietly going blind. Not because of rare diseases. But because they’ve never had access to a simple eye exam.
In the counties of Bumaena, Bunashimolo, and Bushiende, to be specific, there are no eye clinics. None. And every year, more than a thousand people lose their vision to cataracts, glaucoma, and trachoma—all of which are treatable.
As a private person based in Germany. I’m fundraising alongside my friend Max to support a life-saving initiative in eastern Uganda—a mobile eye care campaign that will prevent thousands from going blind.
This is about restoring sight, dignity, and hope in rural communities that have gone without eye care for generations. ⸻
Mobile Eye Care, That Goes Where Clinics Can’t
„Ophmo- mobile eye kit- produced by Glaucare GmbH, a berlin based startup, is a unique product that will make a big impact on the fight against preventable blindness especially in the low-income countries. It is designed to make easy diagnosis of the leading causes of blindness like cataracts, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy. It has already revolutionized the way we conduct our outreach programs. - Dr Dan Kiage, Kisii eye clinic, 2024, Kenia“
We’re working with the Bamaena Community Foundation, to launch Uganda’s first rural mobile eye clinic campaign.
Led, Rev. Francis Wamukoota, Managing Director of the Bamaena Community Foundation, Medical Assistants and local nurses, with your help, we will:
✅ Equip 3 Mobile Eye Kits
✅ Train 6 Local Medical Assistants
✅ Run 30 Days of Emergency Outreach in 18 remote villages
✅ Screen over 5,000 people in the first year
✅ Provide glasses, medicine, and referrals for urgent surgeries
MEET
On the picture is MUTENDE, 94 — A COMMUNITY PILLAR WHO ALMOST LOST HIS SIGHT
“I tended these lands for 80 years. When my eyes failed, I thought God called me home.”
Last year, Rev. Wamukoota, Managing Director of Bamaena Community Foundation, supported Glaucare GmbH pilot the Ophmo Mobile Eye Kit in his community. During that pilot, he brought the kit to Mutende’s remote village.
The team found a severe eye infection—and treated him on the spot, saving his vision. He couldn’t travel the 7 hours to a hospital. Thousands like him are still waiting in darkness.
MEET
Sarah Nalongo, 8 — WHO THOUGHT SHE WAS “STUPID” “Letters danced on my book,” she whispered. Nurses discovered her vision was 20/200.
With glasses, she read aloud perfectly. Her teacher cried. In villages without clinics, children suffer in silence, believing they’re broken. We’re here to show them they’re not.

A MESSAGE FROM REV. WAMUKOOTA (BAMAENA FOUNDATION MANAGING DIRECTOR)
“Angela, tell donors: We saved Mutende with one kit during Glaucare’s pilot. Imagine what three can do. But we need them NOW—Kintu, 91, is losing vision as I speak.” ⸻
EMERGENCY EYE CARE BLITZ supporting to launch a 30-day mobile eye care campaign before Uganda’s rainy season cuts off access for 6+ months.
By August 1, 2025, we must raise €80,000 to:
• Purchase 3 Ophmo Mobile Eye Kits (portable diagnostics)
• Train 6 local medical assistants
• Run 30 days of mobile outreach in 18 villages
• Screen and treat 2,500+ people before the rain season hits .
WHY THE DEADLINE MATTERS If we miss the August -September 2025:
• September rains will flood rural roads for half a year
• Elders like Mutende could go blind from infection
• Children like Nalongo could drop out of school
• Nurses will be unable to reach the villages
We cannot afford to delay.
WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES
100% of your donation goes directly to the field—no admin fees, no overhead. I don’t handle any of the funds. Everything is managed transparently by Bamaena Community Foundation a registered NGO in Uganda.
Here’s what your gift can do:
• €45 provides glasses for a child like Nalongo
• €120 buys medicine for 5 elders like Mutende
• €650 funds a full day of village screenings
• €22,000 buys one full mobile diagnostic kit Every euro makes a difference.
WHY we are DOING THIS.
Max has never been to Uganda. But when he saw the photo of Mutende smiling after treatment and Nalongo reading clearly—
„I knew I had to act“
This isn’t about us. It’s about getting resources to the real heroes:
• Medical Assistants & Nurses who hike miles to reach patients
• Elders who are praying for relief
• Children hiding behind blurry books We can stand with them—and deliver sight. ⸻
WE NEED €80,000 BY AUGUST 1
If 400 people give €200, we’ll make it. That’s achievable.
Let’s move quickly.
Let’s stop blindness in its tracks. Please donate whatever you can and share this campaign with your network.
