Restore Shirley Davidson's Kitchen and Comfort
Don protégé
Hi, my name is Tyrell Taylor, local REALTOR and Property Manager. I’m starting this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for my beloved grandmother, Shirley Davidson. At 81 years old, she has dedicated her life to caring for others, making her home a haven for family and friends. Unfortunately, Shirley is currently facing a significant challenge that has left her without a functioning kitchen.
As the youngest of five children to the late Margaret Davidson, Shirley has always been a pillar in our family and her community. Her home has been a gathering place for relatives, friends, and even those who have had nowhere else to go.
Shirley worked at Temple Hospital, Einstein, and in home health care and private caregiving for a combined 15 years. She also held positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield, worked for OIC (Opportunities Industrialization Center), and spent time in daycares and at the Bayot cigar company in the 1980s. Her commitment to the community extended to helping kids secure summer jobs alongside Dory Lynn of FYI at Crime Prevention Associate.
Despite a bad car accident that led to a double hip replacement, Shirley’s spirit remains strong. However, over the last year, she has faced a hardship that no one her age should have to endure. After a contractor began a kitchen renovation, he abandoned the job halfway through, leaving her without plumbing and a functioning kitchen. She has been forced to carry dishes upstairs to clean them in the bathroom, and daily tasks like making coffee or cooking have become increasingly difficult.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 – $5,000 for labor and $5,000 for parts – to finally restore her kitchen and give her back the comfort of a functioning home. This will cover:
Plumbing repairs to restore proper water access
New cabinetry and countertops to replace the damaged ones
Flooring and electrical work to make everything safe and usable again
Shirley has always been there for everyone else, from her 15 grandchildren to her 17 great-grandchildren, offering unwavering support and love. Now, it’s time for us to come together as a community and be there for her.
Why This Matters:
This campaign isn’t just about fixing a kitchen; it’s about giving back to someone who has spent her entire life giving to others. Shirley’s story also marks the beginning of a larger mission. We are launching Resurge, a community initiative to help underserved families like hers who lack the means to renovate their homes. The Shirley Davidson Fund will be the first pillar of this mission, and with your help, it will grow to support many others in need.
How You Can Help:
We need your help to restore Shirley's kitchen and relieve her of this burden. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world to us.
Let’s come together as a community to help Shirley, and in doing so, build a foundation for helping many more families in the future.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
