On the evening of July 26, I was on my way to bring my sister and nieces an air conditioner. When suddenly my car suddenly lost all power, lights, steering, and acceleration. I was on 495 exiting to RTE 9 and it was absolutely terrifying. I’m pretty lucky to be here. Very glad that my children were not in the car. So thankful that my sister rushed to come sit with me while I waited for AAA in tears.

To make a long story short, I just got this car a few months back. I’ve never had such a nice vehicle in my life. I worked really hard to maintain it. I’ve had multiple people attempt to help me fix the vehicle. I have replaced the starter twice, purchased a new battery, new spark plugs, and fuses, alternator- all of it. My father is a mechanic so we know a few things, but not everything… my father is 70 years old, and cannot help me with the car at this time.

Finally it came down to bring it to the dealership. I was on a time restriction as I received an offer letter on my dream job. I accepted the offer, and I was supposed to start my training (Today) September 5. Without a vehicle, I am unable to complete the two weeks of training to become certified. It’s EXPENSIVE to uber 40 minutes away, twice daily & with zero income or vehicle. My new position requires me to have a working vehicle. I have reached out to them and explained my situation and unfortunately, they are unable to wait. I am heartbroken. But they will keep my resume on file for the future. It took months to find this position. Multiple interviews six references… I am pretty confident that I will get there again. However, without a vehicle, it’s impossible.

Kia dealership finally reached out to me yesterday. They explained the multitude of issues with my vehicle. But they said with hopes, the engine should be under warranty. And that they would do the best they can to help me with my vehicle for the least cost. However, the cost could be up to $6,000 to get my vehicle back in SAFE and running condition… it’s not realistic financially.

I am torn on getting this vehicle fixed, or finding something safer for my children.

All funding goes towards paying off the ongoing expenses for the Kia, a new engine- as well as assessing the vehicle for any other safety issues in the future. The kids safety is my #1 priority and concern!

Everyone who knows me, they see how hard I work & how much I love my family and friends. I would do anything for them. I am also an advocate for the city I live in, and having no vehicle means I am unable to help the people in my community. I feel stuck. It’s really not easy to ask for help. However my kids & I really could use some help right now. Even just getting to, and from a grocery store has been incredibly challenging. Let alone doctors appointments, or during emergencies or the winter months coming up.

If I were to ask for a miracle, it would be right about now. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read my story, and share or donate. Thankyou all from the top and bottom of my heart!
