Help Repair Robert's Car and replace gear after theft

"Hello, my name is Robert.

At 2:58 am on Sunday, August 4th 2024, my car was stolen, along with nearly everything I had inside of it from my home in Audobon, NJ. It was recovered the next day in Camden, NJ, but with significant damage and with many of my belongings that I had inside the car still missing, and I had to pay $400 just to get the damaged car released and towed to a tire repair shop in my town.

I am starting this fundraiser to pay for the repairs needed for the car, replace my missing gear, and so that I can afford food and bills until my car is fixed and I can return to work, as I do not have reliable transportation without it.

About the car: The car is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and was left to me by my grandmother after she passed in 2020. The damage to be repaired includes a blown-out tire, broken driver’s-side door with missing handle, and a ripped-off steering column cover (see the photos attached for proof of damage). Along with whatever else we find.

About the gear: I am a participant in the Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) community, and the gear that was stolen includes all of my protective fencing gear and the custom bag I carried the gear in. The gear, some of which was custom and is of great sentimental value to me, includes a mask, jacket, gorget, elbow guards, knee and shin guards, and gloves. At a minimum I can expect the gear replacement to cost about $700-$1200. Please see the attached photo that shows me in most of my kit.
