Restore Paynesville's Historic Theater
Donation protected
Hi, I’m trying to bring back movies and restore a theater built in 1918 to a small Midwestern town, in Paynesville, Minnesota.
I purchased the theater in 2021 and over the last three years, my two sons and I have spent all our resources and spare time fixing and updating it. We finally reached the point to be able to open it and run older movies.
Unfortunately, when we decided to have the gas turned on for the furnaces, we found out all three furnaces and two air conditioners need to be replaced. And since the building is so old, changes in the piping need to be done. The cost for the heat and air is $62,000.
The movie companies are only allowing us to run old movies for a short time until we purchase a special projector to run new encrypted movies. The cost for that projector is $30,000.
Lastly, the seats are quite old and we’d like to start replacing them with better seats.
