Restore Patrick's Smile: A Journey of Redemption

Hi, my name is Patrick. Since I can remember, I've always been known for my smile. Until I started to do meth. I had a horrible problem for ten years in which it ran my life and took my smile. I recently became sober by my own choice. With no help or persuasion from anyone but me, I have quit. Pulled my head outta my own ass and am finally sober for the first time in nearly thirty years. But it has taken the one thing I loved to do with it, and that's smile.

I'm doing everything right now. I got a good job serving the public, paying my own bills, and helping others when I can. Oh wait, I lied. I did have one's help doing this: God's. I was never a believer until he touched me and I felt his love again. And without that love, I would not have made this choice for freedom. Anyways, my goal is to get my smile back. So one day, I can show those stuck in the shadow of slavery on drugs that you can get everything it takes back. I am going to do it with a smile though. I'm in daily pain because of my teeth, what few I have left—7 to be exact—and they're in horrible shape. Please help me get a new set of teeth. I'm aiming for implants. My benefits kick in soon and it will help.

Now, my family, which I haven't really talked to or seen for twenty years—my mom and sister—would like me to come out for Christmas, and I don't really want my mom to see me like this. I've never made her proud, just caused her grief and despair over where I was or if I was even still alive. And it's a regret of mine for putting her through that. I know she's proud now that I'm back, but I would love her to see me smile. I just need a little bit from a lot of people. I'm not asking for a lot from just a few. That's asking too much. But I believe a little goes a long way. And if I could just get enough people to help, I promise to return the favor—not to those who help me, but to those needing my help. I have a lot to offer the ones who need help with what they're going through, and I have a great gift to offer the world we live in, as God has shown me what I was put here for. And that is to make this world a better place than I leave it in when the time comes.
