In late July, the popular Slices On Mill in Tempe abruptly closed its doors. Without any notification, one of the business partners closed the doors and took the money out of the business account, leaving the other business partner and the restaurant’s longtime employees stranded. Slices On Mill was an iconic pizza joint in downtown Tempe that has served students, alumni, residents and local businesses for decades. Co-owner and longtime operations director, Nate Cruz returned from a family vacation to find the locks changed and the bank accounts cleaned out. The restaurant was Nate’s passion and livelihood. He worked tirelessly for years to build the business alongside his loyal staff of 15 years. He is now forced to start over with limited access to funding or income. He is now in need of help and funds to pursue legal action and try to launch a new business, Slices On the Go. He hopes to offer the same delicious pizzas and serve customers via private events and on location through partnerships with local bars and community events.
