Hi I am Kathi. For thirty years I was in EMS.....Emergency Medical Services. First as an EMT in Washington State, then as a paramedic in California. Needless to say that was a lot of siren in my ear. In California, we were required by the company to have out windows down any time we ran lights and siren. Fast track to now, even after being medically retired for almost 25 years, my ears ring when I hear a siren.
Now, my hearing is shot. The last couple of years the tinnitus has gotten progressively worse and in any situation other than by myself it is hard to hear conversations with others. My ear doc warned me that my hearing test showed I needed hearing aids but I declined them. I have gotten pretty darn good at reading lips one on one but now it is time. Who knew they cost so freaking much, even with insurance?
I kind of feel bad about asking for help with something as simple as hearing aids when there are others much worse off, but if you can help, every little bit counts. If not, I get it, but could you please share to others?
thank you so much!!
