My name is Tracey, and I’m asking for help for someone who has been a tremendous influence in my life and in the life of my family for many years. Joy has been a constant source of warmth, guidance, and steadiness—someone whose presence has shaped so much of our lives with her kindness and her loyal, loving spirit. She lives in Montego Bay with her husband and daughter, with her son and granddaughter nearby, and right now their entire world has been turned upside down.
Just weeks ago, Joy proudly finished redoing her home—a home she worked so hard to create and maintain. But when Hurricane Melissa unexpectedly shifted toward her area, the storm unleashed devastation she never could have prepared for. Her home flooded, her belongings were destroyed, and the damage is catastrophic. To make things harder, Half Moon Bay—where Joy works—remains closed, leaving her without income during the time she needs it most. She urgently needs a generator and a barrel of supplies just to get through the next few weeks. The government has advised the residents that electricity may not be restored until July 2026. Joy is one of the strongest and most giving people I know, and seeing her struggle like this is heartbreaking.
She has touched so many lives, including mine and Owen’s, with her endless generosity, support, and kindness. Now she needs us. Any contribution—big or small—will help Joy and her family begin to rebuild after this unimaginable loss. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping someone who has given so much to others.
