Restore Hope for The Malkasian Family Post-Fire
Donation protected
On the night of April 18th, tragedy struck—my parents’ home was completely destroyed in a fire. This wasn’t just a house—it was their retirement, their dream, and the result of years of hard work and sacrifice. They had poured everything they had into this home, both financially and emotionally.
My father, a psychologist who spends his time helping families in Conway, SC, worked tirelessly—literally day and night. He built the two-story garage himself, laid every floorboard, and even installed a red cedar roof by hand. All while working nights in his practice. My mother, also a psychologist, works remotely due to her ongoing battle with Lupus, which makes it difficult for her to travel. These are two of the most selfless, hard-working people I know. They’ve given everything to their family and their community, never asking for anything in return.
They were hoping to sell the house soon and finally take a breath—to enjoy retirement, meet their first grandchild in July, and begin a new, peaceful chapter of life. That dream was taken from them in the blink of an eye.
The fire destroyed everything: the home, the garage, and their only vehicle. Thankfully, my younger brother happened to be staying over that night. He heard the initial commotion and acted fast—getting my parents and their kittens out just in time. We are so grateful they’re alive. But they’ve lost everything else.
My parents are proud and would never ask for help themselves. So I’m asking on their behalf. They’ve spent the last 30 years helping others. Now they need help rebuilding their own lives.
If you’re able, any contribution—no matter what—will go directly toward helping them get back on their feet: clothes, food, temporary housing, and essential needs.
Thank you,
Tanner
