Restore Hope for Lucky Mai's Owners
Donation protected
Mai and KaTou Yang are owners of Lucky Mai’s in Wausau. On 8/6, they were blindsided by the devastating news that their store had caught fire.
Their story started in Thailand where the two of them originally met. They began dating but parted ways in 2005 when their families began the journey to the United States to live the American dream. Shortly after, they reunited and got married. They were driven to begin their lives in a new country by learning English and schooling.
In Dec of 2022, they made one of their American dreams come true by buying a building that would soon be home to Lucky Mai’s. They did what every business owner would do and obtained insurance and everything they needed to ensure the start of their business, so they thought.
On August 6, 2024, they received the devastating news that their business was lost due to a fire which firefighters believe was electrical related. They have now lost their whole lives, everything they put their heart and soul into. When they thought it couldn't get any worse, they found out that their coverage for insurance doesn't cover a fraction of what is now lost. Unfortunately, whoever sold them their insurance policy did not have their best interest in mind and now they are left hopeless with no business and no income to provide for their little family.
So now I come to you and ask for help. Any donation, whether big or small, will help them cover many cost that insurance will not be covering including any inventory damaged that will not be replaced.
I pray that we as a community can come together to mend the hearts of this family so that they can keep their small business and their American dream going.
